My God
Go Fish
Northview Kids · 15–20 minutes
A simple experience for toddlers through elementary-age children. You do not need to use every word—keep it conversational, let children participate, and remind them that Jesus is with them.
Our God is bigger
Invite everyone—even adults—to stand and follow the actions. For toddlers, use three simple motions: reach up for “big,” make muscle arms for “strong,” and freeze for “mighty.”
Go Fish
Say: “Evacuating, seeing smoke, or leaving our stuff can feel big and scary. But our God is so big, so strong, and so mighty. When scary things happen, God is right here holding us tight.”
The uncrushed heart
Wrap the rock. Say, “This rock is us. When we ask Jesus to be the boss of our hearts, he wraps us up in his love.” Wrap it in foil and place it in the cup.
Squeeze the cup. Say, “This cup is like our house, toys, or routines. When a wildfire or evacuation happens, life squeezes hard on this cup.”
Reveal the rock. Say, “The cup got smushed, but the rock did not break. Life can get bumpy on the outside, but you are God's safe, loved child on the inside, and that never changes.”
Isaiah 41:10
“Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will hold you with my strong hand.”
Explain simply: “Scary things like fires can happen in our world. Fire can burn trees, grass, or buildings. Nothing stops God's love for you. God will always love you.”
A calming prayer
Hold up one finger like a birthday candle. Breathe in slowly, then blow the candle out slowly. Repeat three times with these words:
Breathe in: “Jesus loves me…”
Breathe out: “…all the time.”
End together
Place a hand on your child's shoulder, look them in the eyes, and use their name:
“[Child's name], Jesus loves you, Jesus is with you, and he will never let you go. Amen.”
If you have more time
Sing “Nothing That Can Separate Me.” Invite children to jump, clap, and give a family hug when they hear the word “nothing.”
